Baseball is the national game in the United States, so it’s no surprise that most kids and teens are fanatical about the game. It’s also no surprise that baseball bedding is one of the most popular requests from boys when it comes to redefining and redesigning their bedrooms! There are whole stores that specialize in kids sports bedding, so it’s pretty easy to get hold of, and it needn’t cost a fortune, either, so why not encourage a love of sport in your family?
Baseball is also one of the few fads that a young boy tends to continue with into adult life, too, so there’s a good chance they’ll be happy with the bedroom theme for a long time to come. That said, you don’t need to spend a great deal on bedding to get a great look; just a comforter and pillow sham or two is usually enough to make the bed a real centerpiece, and you can continue the theme with baseball accessories, posters, and color ways throughout the room. Pick out team colors on the walls or, if you are concerned this may make the room feel dark and claustrophobic, paint the walls in a lighter neutral color and use team colors on skirting, picture rails and ceiling details and perhaps lampshades, rugs and other smaller items. Simple, but effective!
Baseball Bedding in a Bag
When your son has friends over, chuck in a set of baseball bedding in a bag and they’ll have a fine old time in matching kit. If they are real baseball fans, let them have a few DVDs of classic games involving their favorite teams and you’ll have a hard time stopping them coming back every weekend. In fact, if you are not careful, before long you’ll be baking baseball-themed cakes and joining in the fun yourself!
Vintage Baseball Bedding
For a more timeless look, check out the availability of vintage baseball bedding; there’s a whole load of it out there, and it gives a room a fantastic classic look. Pair your boys bedding with other baseball memorabilia, such as fabric patches, or retro kit and gear, and you’ll end up with a fabulous homage that even grown-up boys will envy! You could even try copying the patches (print them out from one of the many websites devoted to the game, and enlarge by eye or using a projector, and it’s easy to paint logos etc. onto the wall. Alternatively, vintage style posters are easy to get hold of, and look great in simple and cost-effective frames.
When buying kids bedding of any kind, do make sure, especially if you are counting the pennies, that you don’t falsely economize and buy man-made fabrics for sheets, pillow shams or any other products that will be in direct contact with your child’s skin; without wanting to sound too mum-sy about it, man-made fabrics are just not appropriate for sleeping in; they can be scratchy, itchy, and unpleasantly non-absorbent. By all means use them in other places, but not on the bed.
Great cotton baseball bedding is like great cotton baseball kit—comfortable, fresh, and long-lasting. And with any luck, your young baseball fan will enjoy it for years to come!
